Nigerian Troops Neutralize 15 Terrorists in Katsina, Arrest 13 Suspects in Kaduna and Benue
The Nigerian Armed Forces have recorded another major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against insurgency, banditry, and other violent crimes across the country. According to the Defence Headquarters, troops carried out successful clearance operations that led to the elimination of 15 terrorists in Katsina State and the arrest of 13 terror suspects in Kaduna and Benue States.
15 Terrorists Killed in Katsina
Military spokesperson, Major General Markus Kangye, explained that troops operating in Katsina intensified offensives in notorious hideouts. Backed by air support, the soldiers engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, killing 15 fighters on the spot.
He noted that the operations also destroyed several makeshift camps used by criminal gangs for coordinating attacks and storing weapons. Arms, ammunition, motorcycles, and communication gadgets were recovered.
13 Suspects Apprehended in Kaduna and Benue
In separate operations, security forces stormed identified enclaves in Kaduna and Benue States, arresting 13 suspects linked to terrorist activities and armed violence. Intelligence reports suggest that the suspects were involved in recent kidnappings, illegal arms supply, and banditry across communities.
The military assured residents that the suspects are currently being profiled and will face prosecution once investigations are concluded.
August Roundup of National Operations
The Defence Headquarters also shared a broader update on nationwide counter-terrorism efforts. In August 2025 alone, troops:
- Eliminated dozens of terrorists in the North West and North Central zones.
- Apprehended 85 suspects connected to violent crimes.
- Rescued 66 kidnapped victims, including women and children.
These operations covered Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Benue, and Niger States, underscoring the government’s determination to degrade terrorist networks and restore peace.
Government Reassures Citizens
The Nigerian Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property while urging citizens to cooperate by providing credible intelligence. Communities across northern Nigeria have welcomed the military’s progress but continue to call for sustained efforts to prevent reprisals from fleeing terrorists.
